This training help those who are in contact or might be in contact with a child with ADHD, manage a classroom of children with and without ADHD and communicating with parents to better assist a child with ADHD in the classroom. During this training participants will:

  1. Distinguish the signs and symptoms of impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattention disorder
  2. Summarize factors related to its occurrence
  3. Explain positive qualities of ADHD
  4. Describe several treatments options available for ADHD
  5. Implement some strategies to manage a child with ADHD in the classroom
  6. Explain how to communicate successfully with parents of children with ADHD
  • A Commitment to Professional Development (1 clock hr | 0.1 CEUs)

During this training, participants will identify learning opportunities to stay current in their career of early childhood. Learning objectives include:

  1. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning and development by establishing objectives and goals.
  2. Determine training and development methods to initiate learning opportunities to advance personal professional knowledge and skills.
  3. Identify ways to evaluate training and development effectiveness.
  • A Mindful Approach to Challenging Behavior (1 clock hr | 0.1 CEUs)

During this training participants will be able to identify the different functions of a child’s challenging behavior and ways to engage and support them to improve their challenging behavior and build positive relationships. Learning objectives include:

  1. Define the different forms of behaviors.
  2. Recognize the signs and symptoms of each form of behaviors.
  3. Identify the risk factors that are known to be associated with challenging behaviors.
  4. Implement strategies to address and respond to challenging behaviors.
  5. Create a positive support plan that will help a child learn appropriate ways to meet their needs.
  6. List ways to prevent unacceptable behaviors in young children.
  • An Initial Connection Family Engagement (2 clock hr | 0.2 CEUs)

During this training participants will be able to identify different ways to engage with families and build a positive relationship to support and improve the learning, development, and health of children. Learning objectives include:

  1. Recognize the importance of building a partnership with families.
  2. Implement strategies that encourage partnerships with families to foster child’s learning and development at home, child care, and in school.
  3. Evaluate strategies to effectively communicate and provide appropriate supports and resources to parents and children.
  4. Develop a mutual respect and trust over time, through a series of interactions with families.
  5. Demonstrate ways to influence and encourage families who show resistance in being apart of their child’s learning and development.
  6. Create a plan to collaborate with parents.
  • Growth and Development Infancy to School Age (2 clock hr | 0.2 CEUs)

During this training participants will be able to compare the different states in child development skills of young children. Learning objectives include:

  1. Identify the different stages of a child development from the birth to 60 months.
  2. Recognize what to look for in the event a child is not performing on their peer’s level and demonstrate what to do.
  3. Choose different activities for each age group that will aid a child in development.
  • Observation and Assessment in Young Children (2 clock hr | 0.2 CEUs)

During this training participant will be able to observe and assess young children. Learning objectives include:

    1. Identify the different techniques for observing and assessing young children.
    2. Implement observation and assessment in their curriculum.
    3. Recognize the importance of observation and assessment.
    4. Report findings to parents and/or the proper officials.
  • Professionalism (1 clock hr | 0.1 CEUs)

During this training participants identify ways to remain professional when working others such as co-workers, children, and families. Learning objectives include:

  1. Apply good values in an early childhood program to help the program prosper.
  2. Identify what behaviors are acceptable and what behaviors are inappropriate
  3. Discuss ways to prevent unethical behavior within the work place.

Requirements:

  • Access to a Laptop or Desktop
  • Internet connection. High speed broadband access (LAN, Cable or DSL) is highly recommended for the optimal learning experience.
  • A graphical browser is required, such as, Chrome, Firefox, etc.
  • An E-mail account that is accessible.
Instructions:

To receive credit for completing this course participants should read all material, take notes, and complete all the required assignments. There is a final assessment at the end of this course. Participants will have two attempts to take the final assessment and must pass with a 70% or higher to earn a certificate of completion and 1 CEUs.

Please note there will be no extra attempts to re-take the final assessment, once you have started the final assessment be sure to complete it without interruption. If you are not able to pass the final assessment with a 70% or higher we encourage you to consider taking another course that meet your requirements or wait 30 days before you re-take this course.
